FAQ
Can I really use the service anywhere?
Yes. You will be making calls via the Iridium constellation of 66
low-earth orbiting (LEO), cross-linked satellites. These satellites
provide coverage everywhere on the planet, including the poles.
What is the sound quality like?
The sound quality will be less than that experienced with ground based
cellular communication, but you will be easily understandable to others.
What kind of reception can I expect?
As long as you can see the sky you can make a call. If most of the sky is
obstructed, you may have to wait a few minutes for a satellite to come
overhead.
Can I make calls indoors?
Assume the answer is no, however, there are times that this can be done. If
you can see the sky from a window or opening, you may be able to make the
call.
Can I make calls in varying weather conditions?
The LEO satellites enable calls in most weather conditions so the sky does
not have to be clear for you to make your call.
How long does a battery charge last?
Your satellite phone will last about 30 hours on standby and 4 hours for
talk time. There are also car chargers and other charging options
available. Batteries are also easy to swap.
Will my satellite phone be durable?
Yes. Your sat-phone will be weather resistant, drop resistant, and
designed to work when you need it.
Is the satellite phone easy to use?
Yes. Your satellite phone is easier to use than most cellular phones. It
is designed to be as easy to use as a basic house phone.
